Tyler's 2025 Goals

This year's goals are a lot more about maintaining the progress I've made so far. I don't have anything really ambitious like starting my own business or buying a house. I want to build on the work I've done before and really enjoy the life I've built for myself and improve the lives of those around me.

That said, there are still a few things I want to be intentional about changing over the course of the next year.

Growth at the Gym

I started doing personal training in January of 2024 and had some great success with it. Unfortunately, my gym has been unable to keep trainers that align with my schedule. Thankfully I feel like I've learned enough in the last year that I can continue to make progress on my own.

Some specific goals:

  • Record all of my workouts in an app
  • Become more disciplined & intentional about splits
  • Leverage knowledge from online to continue growing

Health & Lifestyle

In September I met with my doctor to talk about options for weight loss for some issues I'd been having. I'd been told by friends before that I stop breathing in the middle of the night and had been embarrassed by a few comments made about my weight and restrictions in buying clothes and participating in activities.

At that point, I started a GLP-1 medication and continued to spend time at the gym. The GLP-1 has made it a lot easier to be thoughtful about what foods I'm eating. Now, I feel more confident and have a lot more energy to do the things I want to do.

Some specific goals:

  • Continue with GLP-1 medication and building on good habits
  • Experiment with new ways of cooking and new foods

Career Goals

This year I want to double down on some of my career goals and explore what changes I need to make them happen. I've been in the same role since I joined Microsoft 5.5 years ago and I've had a blast on my current team.

I think now it's time to explore what kinds of things I want from my next role and how I can change my current role to make those happen. Some of this might require a bit more schooling or courses.

Some specific goals:

  • Look at open roles internally and externally to figure out what I want
  • Be open to new opportunities
  • Find what I can be doing now to align with my future career goals
